House Of Pain Background

House of Pain is an Irish-American hip-hop group who released three albums in the early to mid 1990s before lead rapper Everlast decided to pursue his solo career again. The group is best known for its 1992 hit single "Jump Around", which reached #3 in the United States, #6 in Ireland and #8 in the United Kingdom.


The group consisted of Everlast, DJ Lethal and Danny Boy, the name House of Pain was taken from a book by H.G. Wells a well know English author who was known for writing a series of science fiction books. They were first signed to Tommy Boy Records and there self titled album went I went multi-platinum in (1992). The song Jump Around was produced by DJ Muggs who was the DJ and producer for Cypress Hill
After their first albums success they toured with various rap and alternative rock bands. They participated with Helmet a group from New York and other rap acts on the 1993 rock-rap collaborative Judgment Night movie soundtrack.

After their third album in 1996 “Truth Crushed To Earth Shall Rise Again” Everlast announced that he was leaving the group, after this the group continue go their separate ways Danny Boy found an art company. DJ Lethal became a member of a nu metal band Limp Bizkit. Everlast did finally get multi-platinum solo fame in 1998 with his acoustic rock/blues album Whitey Ford Sings The Blues.

Founded by Danny Boy in early 2006, La Coka Nostra is a new project that has reunited him, Everlast and DJ Lethal for the first time since House of Pain's split. Other group members include Ill Bill of Non Phixion, and newcomers Slaine and Big Left.
The originally line-up for House of Pain have reunited for the Rock the Bells hip-hop tour of 2009.
